Bermuda to Azores | Day 3
We finally found the wind. Sometimes it’s light, but it has been mostly consistent. We haven’t engaged the engine in over 36 hours now. Hallelujah!
Yesterday, the seas were sloppy due to two opposing swells. The confused seas and a crosscurrent slowed us down a bit, but there was nothing we could do. We just had to push through it.
So, what was the excitement yesterday? Shower day! Woo-hoo. However, showering underway always requires ninja-like skills—balancing, grounding yourself, and catching flying objects.
And sleeping on a boat? So. Much. Noise. Banging. Thumping. Thwopping. Creaking. Squeaking. Cracking. Clanging. Popping. Not to mention, your body is never still. It rolls and pitches with the boat.
Yesterday, I finished the book Pork Pie Pandemonium. It’s a cute story featuring an old man and his police-dog reject sidekick. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a sucker for dogs, and this one makes me laugh out loud. So, I started the second book. I think there are ten in the series. Will I read all of them? Who knows. But for now, they’re light, easy reads.
We’re eating decently. Ken called last night’s meal—sheet-pan gnocchi with asparagus and blistered tomatoes, plus a pan-seared chicken thigh—restaurant-quality. I’m not sure I’d go that far, but it was good. And super easy, which is always nice when you’re underway.
Here’s to Day 4 of who knows how many more? We are estimating 10 more. Only time will tell.
All is well.
