Bermuda to Azores | Day 2

Last night’s skyline

Day 2 was a beautiful day. Clear skies. Moderate wind and seas. Not much to report.

Having a third person aboard to help with watches has been very helpful. We are both getting more sleep—Ken especially! He has a hard time sleeping on passages, but this has enabled him to truly rest.

Our big excitement for the day was one pod of spinner dolphins, which I didn’t get to see because I was down for a nap. And one little tiny bird that was hundreds and hundreds of miles offshore. He thought about catching a ride for over an hour, circling us over and over again. A couple of times, he almost came in for a landing (see video). But in the end, he chose otherwise. Bye-bye, Birdie.

We’re settling into our routines, which include watches, meals, naps, and reading. Rinse and repeat.

On this passage, I read The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. It was a good read, recommended by my friend Jessica. Last night I started, Pork Pie Pandemonium, recommended by Monica, our crewmate.

When you and everything around you is in constant, variable motion, it isn’t easy to do much more than read and converse. So I will take as many book recommendations as you all have! Send them my way!

All is well.
